Methods
How handheld scanning works
Open a topic. Method tables use the same chrome as the model compare.
Walk-through 3D capture you carry on site
A handheld LiDAR scanner builds a colourised point cloud as you move. Interiors, stairwells, tunnels and under canopy become measurable geometry without a drone or a room of tripods.
You leave with measured data for review and CAD underlay. Not a finished drawing set.
A colourised cloud you can check before you leave
You walk the site. The scanner builds the cloud as you go. Check coverage on site. Miss a wing and it stays missing. Rescan before you leave.
Relative vs absolute accuracy
Relative accuracy asks whether the cloud holds together. Absolute asks whether it sits on a real-world datum. Outdoors, C1 Pro and C10 can take AUSCORS NTRIP. Indoors you still bridge with SLAM or control.
When drones still win
Open yards, roofs and large outdoor surfaces are usually faster from the air. Handheld wins under canopy, indoors and in tunnels. Most whole-site jobs use more than one method and register the clouds together.
Methods compared
Tick wins often. Dash can work with a plan. Cross is usually the wrong tool.

After the walk: Studio and MapShare
Process in SHARE PointClouds Studio for CAD-ready clouds. MapShare is included so the client opens a link instead of a ZIP.

Applications
Pick the job closest to yours.
-
As-built surveying
Capture what was actually built, not what was drawn. Interiors on foot, roofs and yards from the air, one registered model.
-
Scan to BIM
A cloud the modeller can actually work from. Walk the building, hand over geometry that snaps.
-
Renovation and interiors
Walk the space once. Leave with every dimension, including the ones you did not know you needed.
-
Heritage and documentation
A permanent record of the fabric as it stands. Walk the interior, fly the roof.
