Questions, answered

Choosing & buying

When do we need C10 instead of C1 Pro?
When the job is a long traverse, large plant, multi-storey mix or open site where C1-class units start to drift. C10 holds trajectory cleaner over 800 m-class walks and heavier environments. C1 Pro remains the right buy for typical mixed indoor and outdoor survey and renovation sites under a shorter scan window. We compare both on a real brief when the call is close.
What's the difference between C10-16, C10-32 and C10-32 Pro?
Channel count and range. C10-16 is the entry into the SHARE C10 series for large-site walks. C10-32 doubles channel density for heavier geometry. C10-32 Pro extends range to 300 m for plant, pit and facade work you cannot walk up to. Same backpack workflow and RTK across the line. We size the kit to the site, not the brochure.
Is C10 overkill for renovation and interior documentation?
Often yes for a single apartment or small fit-out. C1 or C1 Pro usually wins on those jobs. Choose C10 when the renovation spans large commercial floor plates, long corridors, heritage exteriors plus interiors, or industrial volumes that break lighter handhelds. We downsell when C1 Pro is enough.
What's included in a Mirrormapper C10 deploy?
Configured scanner, SHARE Capture and PointClouds Studio workflow sized to large-site data volumes, MapShare included with each purchase for client links, and hands-on handover from our Melbourne team. We also size batteries and processing hardware so the first big job is not your first unsupervised processing night. Same engineers stay on support.

Accuracy & performance

What affects accuracy on large as-built and documentation jobs?
Path planning, loops, occlusion, materials and coordinate strategy. Relative geometry stays centimetre-class on clean walks; absolute accuracy still depends on RTK or control and traverse design. Feature-poor tunnels and repetitive corridors remain SLAM stress tests even on C10. We plan segments and checks against your acceptance criteria.
Do reflective materials and thin structures still fail on C10?
Yes. Glass, mirrors, water and shiny metal remain hard. Thin cables and transparent edges are unstable targets. Capture primary structure with the scanner; verify fines manually. Temporary film, markers and multi-angle paths help when the surface must appear in the cloud.
Can long corridors and open pits stay drift-free?
Better than on C1-class units, not automatically perfect. Segment scanning, add loops, use control or known points, and slow the walk in feature-poor stretches. That is how you earn stable trajectories on tunnels, pits and repetitive plant. Brochure range does not replace path craft.

Workflow & data

Is the point cloud a finished model, CAD set or mesh?
No. It is measured spatial data. Automated CAD and quantity tools produce drafts for efficiency. Final drawings need human completion. LAS is not FBX, OBJ or OSGB without mesh reconstruction. 3DGS needs NVIDIA CUDA and suits key-area visuals more than whole-campus engineering delivery.
Can C10 data feed CAD, SketchUp, Revit and BIM?
Yes as a reference underlay. Export LAS, LAZ, E57 or PLY, and use RCS-style imports where supported. After import you view, measure and model against the cloud. It does not auto-become an editable BIM model. We wire the large-file path your team can actually run.
Can these scans support construction and as-built documentation?
Yes for existing conditions, progress comparison, handover context and coordination. Final as-built deliverables still follow project standards and review. Large sites produce large files; we size storage, MapShare sharing and processing so documentation does not stall on hardware.
What do SHARE Capture, PointClouds Studio and MapShare do on C10 jobs?
Capture for field operation. PointClouds Studio for processing, review, documentation aids and 3DGS where licensed. MapShare for client browser delivery without ZIP chaos. Confirm current SHARE software support for your C10 variant before you commit a production workflow.

Support

We missed a wing of the building - can software recover it?
No. Uncaptured areas cannot be invented truthfully. Check coverage on site and rescan. On large assets that checklist saves a second mobilisation. Melbourne handover includes coverage habits for multi-level and long-corridor jobs.
What warranty and support do we get?
Twelve-month warranty backed by Australian Consumer Law, with support from the same Melbourne engineers who commissioned your C10. Remote diagnosis first, then local service paths. Production programmes do not wait kindly on overseas ticket queues.
Do we need the full processing stack figured out before a demo?
No. Bring the plant, pit or large renovation brief you actually sell. We demonstrate capture and a sample export into your CAD or BIM tools, and talk processing-box requirements if 3DGS or heavy meshing is on the wishlist. Book a free on-site demo when you want proof at scale.
